the big television

Television is one of the most used medium of entertainment. It is a small box carrying all the elements necessary for entertaining the entire family. Television has been through so many eras that it has turned in to a sparkling diamond that it seems today.Starting it's journey with Doordarshan now it has more than 500 channels in it's belly. Television started with mythological shows, shows on partition of India and family drama. Even in 90's time Indian television was experiencing a taste of reality shows such as sa re ga ma, the viva group of channel v, and dance shows such as boogie woogie. Actually, if we go to see it reality shows has never been a new prospect of TV. Indian TV and also the Indian  audiences have also supported the theme of reality shows for a long time. How can we forget the first ever chat show on Indian TV done by tabassumji at the time when TV was new. The first ever chat show in India which used to come on Friday and the few who used to have TV thoroughly enjoyed it.   Later a show by two major people changed the face of Indain  TV. One was ekta kapoor who introduced the saas-bahu saga on TV. She started with comedy hum panch which gained huge fan follwoing but her other shows like kahanii ghar ghar ki and kyun kii saas bhi kabhi bahu thi are considered TV epics. Then the other person who changed face on TV was none other  than amithabh bachchan who hosted kaun banege corerpati and then TV showcased all the A list stars. Some time back TV wasn't considered as a premium medium of entertainment but now it is too huge even at times bigger than 70'mm. Then, TV shone with glory having variety of  various dramas and a string of reality shows. Each channel coming up with new concepts of reality shows including dance shows, singing shows, stand up comedy shows and also shows which can be called as stunt shows. A recent phenomena which has been observed are the shows which have core concept dependent on social issue.  So, these show have also managed to catch the attention of audiences reaching higher trps for the channel. There were certain shows which "Indian audiences" thought were way out of limits of TV. There was this too much of buzz created by these shows which were high on adult content. But, the producers did not compromise on content however changed the timings. Still, whenever they are released on TV their popularity keeps on increasing. Other than regular channels there are interesting channels and shows coming up like lifestyle channels, travel channels, wildlife channels, general knowledge channels. Also, interesting content is coming up on English entertainment channels. That dimension on English general entertainment channels is gaining popularity. Children oriented shows are also buzzing on TV. However, it is felt that TV has been showcasing more of obscenity than before. These obscene scenes were earlier restricted to the cinema. Not only obscenity but too much of violence has also affected viewing of TV.
So the journey of tv has been exciting and amazing.

The Golden Era

Indian cinema is going through a beautiful phase where audience is entertained through various genres of films. However, 40's-60's is considered as a golden era for the Indian film industry. Still, for me the most exciting period of Indian cinema will be 60's. Though I wasn't able to witness the enigmatic era however, this is the very era which attracts me. This era brought colour on the silver screen. In this very period actors, changed the meaning of acting and stardom. It is interesting fact that each era/period of cinema has added at a macro level to the industry. Cinema was very diverse and touched different dimensions of human life.
